About the group leader..

Meet Prof. Dr. Teresa Gagliano, PhD, our research group leader. Teresa was born in Palermo  and she is from  Cianciana, Sicily. She attended high school in Florence and in Palermo.

She obtained her 5-year Master degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2005 , followed by a  PhD  in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from the University of Ferrara in 2009. During her first PostDoc she was awarded with the European Society of Endocrinology "Young Investigator Award" in 2014, and with the "Early Career Forum Award" from the Endocrine Society in 2015. 

To further improve her research, Teresa visited the University of Birmingham (2013) and the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) in 2011. She then took a senior postdoctoral position at the University of Sussex (2016), followed by a senior scientist position at the University of Zurich (UZH). In 2020, Teresa became an assistant professor at the University of Udine and is now an Associate Professor there. Her expertise and enthusiasm make her a great leader for the research group.
